The primary role of an instructional assistant (IA) is to assist the teacher in all facets of daily class activities. An IA can expect to divide their time between working with students, providing behavioral support, and completing administrative tasks assigned by the teacher in a K-12 setting.

As a paraeducator, the IA is an integral part of the educational team because he or she provides the support a teacher needs to maximize instructional time.

Duties would include face-to-face visits with students, in-person instruction, professional development, student/staff support, and data management in a true hybrid educational setting. Candidates should be incredibly organized to ensure timely and thorough service to students, parents, and staff.

The IA would also need to have the ability to carry and load computers and supplies into/from their car to assist in the delivery of supplies.  Regular participation in professional development is also a requirement of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of and experience with computers.
• Knowledge of business English, spelling and mathematics; some knowledge of office practices and procedures; type at a working rate speed.
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with fellow employees and the ability to get along well with students.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish is preferred.
